Preppy Potato Belts and Other Belts for Sale

So proud of myself for trying to clean out part of my hall closet, not knowing what I would find hidden in tote bags along the bottom. In one of them, an entire set of neck and bracelet forms in black. I put these away when I switched to white and now not sure what to do with them. In the bottom of the tote bag, was a plastic bag filled with my Preppy Potato belt samples.

I found Preppy Potato in 2006 and was so excited to sell her cute belts with monograms and different preppy icons. After modest success and right before my website materialized, they went out of business! I found out after checking for a fabric on their website! So frustrating after investing in the samples…so my loss will be someones gain. Here are the samples I have and will offer the buckles for $15 and the belts for $12. The buckles will work with other leather belts, so if I don’t have the color/size you want, you can easily find elsewhere.

The Last Birthday Celebration and Mikhail

Thursday was my pretend birthday at work. We have been so busy, we couldn’t celebrate it any earlier! Helen surprised me with an entire breakfast spread from Einstein’s..large diet coke and princess balloon included.

and pink candy…

I had requested a pizza lunch and we ended up having 14 people for a pizza party. It was so fun and very festive. The table was decorated in pink with candy in bowls and balloons all around. Carvel ice cream cake for dessert..yum and I am wearing a candy necklace and bracelet for the occasion.

(my sweet friend Tavia took this picture and it looks like I am trying to get out of it! I have been trying to be under the radar in pictures until my hair grows out a little more)

Instead of my usual leave work-drive home in horrible traffic ritual, I skipped over to Wynwood with Amy to the Gary Nader Gallery. A certain dancer turned photographer was having an exhibit and would be there in person. We got there right on time and spotted Mikahel Baryshnikov immediately. He is the tiniest thing and unfortunately was getting swarmed by the hordes of art/ballet fans that showed up as well.
Amy got a picture with him..they were chatting away
So, it is the end of the birthday celebrations…little Nicole made me this beautiful cake that I took home. This photo is quite staged since I lit most of the candles myself, but wanted to get a good photo. It was delicious!

The Real NM Cookie

For my birthday lunch at Neiman’s…we ordered the famous chocolate chip cookies. They came to the table deliciously and when we bit into them, they melted in our mouths. A recipe card came with this delight and last night, I made up a batch. I know the Nestle Tollhouse recipe by heart and have made them a million times, but this recipe intrigued me. Not only was there less butter, but there is also instant espresso powder to add. The mixture was very dry and practically fell apart when I put it in balls on the cookie sheet. The end result was fantastic. Not only did they look perfect, they were very good. A new favorite!

  • ½ cup (1 stick) butter, softened
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 ¾ cups all purpose flour
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 ½ teaspoons instant espresso coffee powder
  • 1 ½ cups semisweet chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 300 degrees. Cream the butter with the sugars using an electric mixer on medium speed until fluffy (approximately 30 seconds). Beat in the egg and the vanilla extract for another 30 seconds. In a mixing bowl, sift together the dry ingredients and beat into the butter mixture at low speed for about 15 seconds. Stir in the espresso coffee powder and chocolate chips. Using a 1-ounce scoop or 2-tablespoon measure, drop cookie dough onto a greased cookie sheet about 3 inches apart. Gently press down on the dough with the back of a spoon to spread out into a 2-inch circle. Bake for about 20 minutes or until nicely browned around the edges. Bake a little longer for a crispier cookie. Makes 2 dozen cookies.

Birthday Weekend

My birthday weekend did not get off to the right start…I was horribly sick on Friday, not even able to leave my apartment. Helen took me to the doctor in the late afternoon and they informed me I did not have Strep or the Flu..maybe a bad cold? Great…
I had planned on going to Palm Beach with Zaria and Helen on Saturday and was so hoping to keep that plan. Seeing tweets that Cornelia Guest was going to be at C. Orrico sealed the deal, rain or shine, deathly ill or not, we would go. I woke up actually feeling better and off we went. Walking into C. Corrico, the first thing I saw was Olive, Cornelia’s adorable Westie..walking around checking things out. So cute. I met Cornelia and she showed me her new line of handbags, all cruelty-free. She signed my copy of her book from a million years ago..”The Debutante’s Guide to Life”. I used to think this tongue-in-cheek handbook picked up where the Official Preppy Handbook left off. It is so funny and she was so surprised when I whipped it out of my bag.

The store looked fantastic, chock full of goodies, as usual. I found a cute tunic to purchase. One of these days, I envision all my crystal bracelets on display there. I would die of pride,

After walking around Worth Avenue, we got to Ta-Boo for an early dinner. We were lucky enough to get a table up front and the people watching was incredible. It was bustling since it was a holiday weekend and there were limos after limos dropping off couples from the midwest on mini-vacations.

On Sunday (my actual birthday), I tried to stay low key since last year I really made a huge deal of the occasion…

lunch at Neiman’s with some girlfriends…
I went to Meg and Brett’s for dinner.
When I got out of the car, I could smell the exciting.

The dinner was amazing…all my favorites…

Meg made a delicious chocolate cake that was remarkably similar to my Mom’s birthday cake…

So happy to celebrate with two of my favorite girls…
I had some help blowing out the candles…
All in all, a great birthday. Even under the weather, I had a blast! Thanks for all the nice birthday wishes. Between the bloggers and Facebook, I heard from a ton of friends!

Happy Valentine’s Day!!!

Happy Valentine’s Day!!!!
For the last few years, I have been saying, “if I am still single by next Valentine’s Day, I am moving out of Miami!” Well, maybe by next year I will start packing! At lease I sold a ton of jewels from this last customer met me in my lobby at 8 pm!
Sending hugs and kisses

Brittan, Barrett, Ashley, Elizabeth, Reese, Penny, Jordan, Isabella, Sophia and Brooke.

Help Me Choose….

On my list…to engrave my gold heart charm bracelet. I have been wearing it since 2000 with a plain heart charm not being able to choose a monogram choice. A few weeks ago, the clasp broke so since it is traveling up to New York to be fixed, I am determined to have it hand engraved while it is there.

I used to stare at this sheet for hours…there are too many choices!!!!

Hand engraving is permanent, so whatever I choose is forever!

I am leaning on #225…what do you think????

Marion and Tabitha

When the news first hit about Sarah Jessica Parker and Matthew Broderick’s twin daughter’s impending arrival, I thought the fashion designers would be going crazy sending them fabulous outfits so they could keep up with their fashionable Mother. So, fast forward two years and I think the designers don’t have her address. None of these outfits are too exciting and it seems like she always puts Tabitha (the darker haired child) in the better outfit. Right????

Anyway…I guess I will keep on the lookout. Maybe when they hit three, they will hit the haute couture jackpot!!
