Meeting Elin…

We saw the announcement on Facebook a few weeks ago that favorite author Elin Hildebrand was coming to Books and Books in Coral Gables.  My friends and I immediately marked our calendars and I told work I was going to leave early that day.  Meg and I got there in plenty of time to get good seats, so excited to hear her reading from her upcoming novel, Beautiful Day

After reading for about 20 minutes, she answered questions from the crowd.  I asked what her favorite book was and the answer was The Blue Bistro, based on the amazing Galley Restaurant on Nantucket.  She also told us she is friends with a lot of the restaurant owners on the island and they are constantly calling her to come by and meet the groups of women who flock to Nantucket after reading her books.  So funny.

After the reading, she was on the way to the Keys to write..so happy to catch her on her Miami pitstop.

Another favorite is Silver Girl..there are so many to name.  If you have not read any of her books, you are seriously missing out.  They are addictive!!!

Beautiful Day comes out June 25, 2013.

Trunk Show Sale

Last week, I had a big sale at Meg’s house..and it was so much fun.
I literally took over her house and set up shop.  All our friends came by and Thursday night ended up turning into a party.  Some of my new things I purchased in Atlanta had arrived and I brought a bunch of old things that were on sale…

I ordered some special cupcakes for the occasion…

The jewels were set up on her dining room table….

And a ton of stuff out on her back porch.  Luckily, the weather in Miami is unbelievable right now.

Queen Bea Studio sent me a bunch of fun bags to sell…

Meg made sure there was delicious food the whole time..

Happy my Valentine’s notepads arrived in time..so cute

Lots of fun bracelets..

and my newest Dabney Lee notepads.  I am obsessed with them.
Thursday night and Friday were amazing..thank you Meg!

I am already planning my next show..they are so fun.
Dying to have one in Palm Beach area…Alice?????

Favorite Pin So Far and KP Updates

So many New Year’s Resolutions, as always, and I have already broken several of them.  One of them was to be a better, more consistent blogger (which I was last week) and then it all fell apart.  I have been so crazy and not wanting to just post nonsense just to post something.

I have steered clear of Pinterest lately because it is a TIME SUCKER.  I do not posses the willpower to just go on for 2 minutes to see what is up, I get stuck finding some awesome housewife who has excellent taste and has pinned some beautiful decor pictures and then I see where she is pinning from and go to that person’s page and then 30 minutes have elapsed without me realizing it.  Holy cow…it is so dangerous!!!

But, when you find gems like this one below..it is worth it.  I am so in love with this bedroom, I can barely see straight.  How pretty to wake up in this room every day?????

Also online, I saw this yesterday from, don’t laugh, Kim Kardashian.  She posted this on Instagram…

I love this because I met someone recently that this totally applies to.  It doesn’t happen often that you really do meet someone and you can almost hear a loud “click”.  It is a rare and amazing thing.

And one more treat from my tech arsenal…this past weekend, I sent a text to my friend Marika needing a photo from the party the night before..I apparently had the wrong number for her in my phone….

when this came through..I almost died and could not stop laughing for about 10 minutes.  How funny?  Now, in the romantic comedy version of my life, he would be super cute and then we would start dating…but that isn’t quite how it ended up.

I am preparing for an amazing trunk show sale tonight and tomorrow.  So excited and nervous as usual.  Hopefully, some good sales!

Shoulder Pads and All….

Last night was the Bare Bones Ball on the campus of UM right at the edge of the Arts Festival set up.  This yearly party is always well attended and the theme is usually very fun, given that this group LOVES to dress up for any occasion.  This year’s theme, Ultimate Frat Party, was so easy..everyone brought out their college gear, togas and school spirit.  I am admittedly not the most enthusiastic dresser upper, but decided to dress like I did in college since I still have many items in my closet from that era..I know, shocking.

The winner, an old favorite navy blue Adrienne Vittadini sweater with white dogs on it that look like Millie (at the time, they looked like Barney).  I loved that sweater and during a recent purge, it survived another round and has been safely tucked away for posterity.  Little did I know I would be wearing it any time soon.  Thankfully, it still fit and had the tell-tale shoulder pads to correctly identify its 1990 time frame.

I added pearls and a ribbon in my hair, and that was it.  There were many ribbons in hair at the party, it was so cute. Here I am with two favorites, Hadley and Corey.

Nadja, Richard and Zaria

Before the party, I was invited to a pre-party at a friend’s house..there were a bunch of togas there AND…some jello shots to boot!

Then, we walked over the party..you could hear the music coming out of the tent from far away…

This was the sign walking into the party..hilarious.  There were frat party banners and sorority signs hanging everywhere.
Cute check-in girls Heather and Ceci..members of the OMG sorority…
Ali, Arts Festival Co-Chair Becky and Catherine

Cristina, Liz and Katie proudly representing University of Florida

Lisa, Lori and Amy

Funnels were on hand…

And Beer Pong participants were everywhere…

This party was so much fun..and today the Arts Festival is in full swing! I will be there all day tomorrow in various t-shirt tents and coke booths.  If you haven’t checked out the Beaux Arts Festival, it is worth a trip to the UM campus.

See you there!

Palm Beach Meets Southampton

Last month Vogue featured Miami native Lily Maddock’s stunning Southampton home on the pages of APT with LSD.  With photographs taken by Claiborne Swanson Frank, this article shows how to artfully mix a little Miami glamour, some classic Palm Beach and Southampton sophistication and remain family-friendly and inviting.  Lily teamed up with her husband’s cousin Celerie Kemble and together the end result is magic.  Each room is more amazing than the next…

Lily’s New York apartment was featured in my favorite magazine of all time, Domino,  several years ago (October 2007 to be exact) and this picture of her entryway and her beloved bulldog Max ended up making the never-ending rounds of Pinterest.  The picture below even landed in their amazing coffee table book right before they closed up shop.  I am still not over it.

Atlanta Gift Show

Saturday, I hiked up to Atlanta and scoped out the gift show at AmericasMart.  I absolutely LOVE going to this show and seeing what is out there.  My own booth didn’t materialize for this show but I am crazy determined to be there come July.  I am embarking on a complete website overhaul this weekend and am adding a wholesale feature for my jewelry line..very fun stuff.  Luckily, I found a handful of great things to add to my site and for my upcoming trunk shows.

Cache Pot Candles…such a cute gift.  These hand-poured candles come in a reusable metal container.  I had such a hard time picking which ones I wanted, but this was my assortment…
These cute tote bags…

I was dying over these chunky notepads..

I just smiled when I saw all of the new Ann Page item on display..

Easter Chevron…

new monogram styles…

new stickers…

personalized puzzles..what a cute gift…

cutest calendars…

and amazing coasters…this whole line is so fun.

I rounded it all out at Lifeguard Press with some Lilly goodies…these coolers

these new lined freezer bags

and new market totes.  I had so much gear from the show, they were sweet enough to give me an older market tote to use..what a bonus!

I stopped by the Fornash showroom and Stephanie Fornash Kennedy was there…I hadn’t seen her since I met her two years ago at this same show.  All of her stuff is so popular, I sold the heck out of the leather and gold bracelets this holiday season.

I also got some new treats from Rebecca Ray…wrap leather bracelets with rosette charms.  The charms are horses, dogs and foxes.  So darn cute….

One line I was so excited to see in person for the first time was the Carrie Dunham purse line.  Carrie was there herself and my friend and I recognized the bags before realizing it was her.  I featured her bags on this blog last year and they did not disappoint in person.

A fresh take on the Bermuda bag of the past, these adorable bags are made in the USA and so adorable, there is one for every occasion.

Starting with the handles, black, dark brown, white and gold…

and then the covers; linen, skin and prints

I wasn’t able to pick this line up yet, but it is definitely on my list.  I had my eye on several combinations!  Check out http://www.carriedunham.com
More to come soon!

Girl’s Super Bowl

Each year, right in the middle of January, the delightful Golden Globe Awards come on and just start the whole awards show madness.  This particular show is always a lot of fun because the stars are at tables with their friends drinking the night away.  It makes for some good tv.  The red carpet is another story, lots of action.  Here are my pics for best dressed last night…
Kate Hudson in Alexander McQueen
Amazing co-host Tina Fey in L’Wren Scott

Anne Hathaway in Chanel
Kristin Wiig in Michael Kors

Jessica Alba, beautiful in Oscar de la Renta

Emily Blunt in Michael Kors
Claire Danes, one month after having a baby, looking amazing in Versace.
Salma Hayek in Gucci
Jennifer Lawrence in Dior

Jennifer Garner in Vivienne Westwood
Juliana Margulies in Pucci
Alison Williams in J. Mendel
Isla Fisher in Reem Acra
The whole show was entertaining..there were a few standout moments for sure…
Before the show started, a chance meeting of George Clooney and Juliana Margulies actually had me teary.  I LOVED them together on ER and they seemed so genuinely happy to see each other.

Tina Fey and Amy Pohler hosting..they were hysterical…

President Clinton surprised everyone when he came out to announce Lincoln as a best movie contender.

Kristen Wiig and Will Farrell doing the funniest skit announcing the nominees for Best Actress in a Comical or Musical.  It was hilarious.

Ben Affleck, winning a Best Director for Drama Golden Globe for Argo, one of my favorite films last year.

It was such a great show…I love a good awards show and this one if my favorite.

Best Dressed Golden Globes Past Perfection

Ahhh, the Golden Globes..I have been planning my whole weekend so I can be in front of my television to catch all the coverage.  Can’t wait to see all the fashion and thought a recap of past favorites was in order.  So many good ones, but these are the stand outs for me…

Reese Witherspoon 2007-this was her “I don’t need you Ryan” coming out dress…

Tomorrow will post tonights best and worst..so excited.

ATL for the Day…

This morning, I am on a plane heading to Atlanta for the Gift Show at Americas Mart.  I am so excited to see what is out there these days.  My website needs some new things and I am looking for a few specific stationery items to add to my assortment.

My friend Hoby is meeting me at Hartsfield when I arrive and going with me on a scouting mission.  I can’t wait to hear his feedback on what’s there…

So sad that one of my oldest BFFs Laura is not working at this show…I usually only get to see her the two times a year I come to this show!  A bunch of my regular peeps are skipping this show for one reason or another.  Hopefully I will get to see all the booths and showrooms I want to, trying to cram it all into one day..my flight is at 7:30 p.m.!!!

Look for my updates on Instagram or Twitter.
