Oh to be in the Hamptons for the summer! It would be very nice. A bunch of my BFFs are on Nantucket right now and I am super jealous. I am needing a vacation from my vacation last week! Traditional Home has this article online about a New York family’s renovation of an amazing East Hampton cottage. The couple acted as their own contractors and ended up getting everything done in under 3 months! Using understated tones of cream, blue and lots of “griege”, the decor is so welcoming and warm. What they did was really perfect…

Wishing I was in the Hamptons,
Hard to believe it has been a week since I was in New Jersey! The reports about the heat were not exaggerated, it was unbelievably hot. We rented a car and the first day, the a/c worked fine but went steadily downhill during our trip. That is the kind of luck I have been having lately!
The summit we flew up for was held in the new Make-A-Wish Foundation of New Jersey’s office which is built like a real life castle. We had heard about this “Wishing Facility” last year, but you can’t really grasp it until you see it for yourself and actually walk through the fancy doors. When you are a Wish child in this area, you come to this fantasy place to actually discuss options and figure out what your Wish will be. There are special rooms just for the Wish families and they have taken great steps to make the whole experience really unforgettable. Our behind-the-scenes tour came after meetings with other Make-A-Wish sponsors where they shared their success stories. It was a very uplifting day, hearing about different Wish families and all that Make-A-Wish is doing to make these children’s lives better. Some of the stories about how different celebrities and organizations go so out of their way to grant wishes really were inspiring. I am so glad we went to this summit, even if we roasted in New Jersey!

Happy to be back in cooler Florida,
Can’t get enough of all the royal baby news!! It is so exciting and it’s hard not to get into all the hoopla. They say this sweet little baby will be the cause of over $370 million injected into the British economy, so unbelievable. Here are a few offerings on Etsy to commemorate Monday’s big event….
and on eBay….
I suspect when his Royal name is announced, an explosion of more items will become available.
So wishing Diana was still here,
Perusing through recipe blogs yesterday and this one actually made me smile. I love deviled eggs and guacamole so together, the combo should be interesting. I am trying these tonight…such a simple idea.
- 6 Large eggs, hard boiled*
- 1 medium haas avocado
- 2-3 tsp fresh lime juice
- 1 tbsp red onion, minced
- 1 tbsp minced jalapeno
- 1 tbsp fresh cilantro, chopped
- kosher salt and fresh ground pepper to taste
- 1 tbsp diced tomato
- pinch chili powder (for garnish)
Peel the cooked hard boiled eggs.
Cut the eggs in half horizontally and set the yolks aside
In a bowl, mash the avocado and two egg yolks, discard the rest. Mix in the lime juice, red onion, jalapeno, cilantro, salt and pepper and adjust to taste. Gently fold in tomato.
Scoop heaping spoonfuls of the guacamole into the 12 halved eggs. Sprinkle with a little chili powder for color and arrange on a platter.
Yummy is all I can say,
Even though I don’t need one more bag..I am really wanting this below tote with KP on it. Iomoi always has the coolest stuff and the most distinct designs. I could use another jewelry bag since my collection has grown so much in the last few months….hmm.
This huge heavy canvas bag is $138, so a little more than an LL Bean tote, but it looks so roomy and I love the big strap. I spend way too much time on the Iomoi site and can never seem to make up my mind on which design I like best. Too many choices!
So happy to be home,
While on my trip, I kept waking up early and would scan through Facebook and Twitter in the wee hours. One post on Facebook caught my attention Sunday morning..my friend Courtney, a karaoke addict, posted a link about the death of Finn Hudson from Glee and the words NO!!!! Internet rumors about celebrities deaths are super common, so I hoped that was the story, but when I kept reading the news, it was apparent that Cory Monteigh was indeed dead at age 31. He had just checked himself into drug rehab a few months ago, so unfortunately, it was easy to assume the worst.
Finn Hudson dead??? I don’t advertise the fact that I love Glee and I don’t really talk about it, but I am a Gleek for sure. I think the show is brilliant and the proof is that we all watch these 30-something actors playing high school students and just go with it without question. My iTunes is chock full of Glee songs, approx. 45 of them. Cory Monteith’s character was so sweet and how could there be a Rachel without a Finn?
I love Glee and can’t imagine what they will do with this development. Reports say that Lea Michele, his real life girlfriend is inconsolable. It truly is such a sad story. My favorite Glee moments are below…
There are so many more..these are my quick top 5.
Rest in Peace Cory Monteith.
This post is dedicated to the biggest Gleek of all, Cynthia Demos.
Happy Birthday to BFFs Laura and Nicole!
I should be hours away from home when this post gets sent out. Yesterday’s drive was really horrible, so boring and I am super tired. In a moment of frustration months ago, I downloaded Season 2 of Downton Abbey on my iPhone, so I listened to that the whole time. Now I have watched/listened to that season about 8 times. I get a little teary in all the same spots and it never gets old.
The Atlanta Show was not a huge success for me, unfortunately. Being ever so positive, I will go again in January and mix it up a little bit. I need a tiny booth with one table, a riser and some really cute blown up pictures to hang. I will be plotting this out in the next few weeks. The good news is that I now have an enormous amount of jewelry on hand so I can photograph it all for my website and promotional materials. One of our neighbors gave me tutorials every day on how to succeed in the jewelry business and we met the coolest lady- Sarah from Naples who is going to be the best contact, so I kept busy all 5 days. That show is way too long if you ask me.
Off to New Jersey..trying to stay positive,
After scouring through the aisles of AmericasMart on my breaks, I have found a bunch of fun new things. My favorite are these adorable acrylic bow cuff bracelets. They come in a bunch of colors and they are already on my website. For $29, they are a great deal!
At 2:00 pm, this show ends and I plan on being in my car by 2:45 pm! We have to break down the whole booth and cart it all out to our cars. Then I head down South to Amelia Island to spend the night at my parents. Tomorrow, at the crack of dawn, I head back home to Miami, unload my car, repack a bag and head to the airport to catch a 5:00 pm flight to New Jersey for a Make-A-Wish conference. The craziness of this plan is now setting in and by Friday afternoon when I return home, I might just fall asleep on my bed.
My booth is in my favorite section of the temporary booths, Boutique. We have lots of fun neighbors..
Even though this show is very slow..we have made lots of friends.
Ready to hit the road,
Well, we are all set up at the show and ready to sell. It is so fun to be back as a vendor and then I turn my badge over and it is my Buyer badge-also super fun. I have already scoped out three lines I want to pick up and those are just my neighbors! More updates soon.
