Gallery Walls

I am all about SYMMETRY in my life.  If there is one on the left, I need one on the right.  My blue and white collection has been purchased in many sets of two for this purpose.  My bedroom has been a decorating challenge for me since I moved in.  Uneven walls and not enough space.  My original plan was to have bedside table/bookshelves built in on each side of my bed, but I was talked into taking a huge risk and moving my bed to another wall leaving room on the left side only to work with.
My first thought was no way, but my decorator Meg convinced me to move some furniture around in my condo and put the smaller antique pine dresser next to my bed as my bedside table and accessorize with pretty things.  The other suggestion was to do a gallery wall in my bedroom.  I didn’t react out loud but inside was saying to myself “not likely”.  A week later, I moved my bed to the other wall and am thinking this new plan will definitely give me more space.  Some of the furniture that needs to be moved is heavy so I need some help. But in the meantime, I have been searching out examples of gallery walls that I like.  Here are some examples:

All Cleaned Up…

All weekend….spent cleaning up my apartment getting ready for today. I am being interviewed for a story on my blog and business at 3pm..in my apartment! Going through bags of paperwork and stuff all weekend has made me realize that enough is enough and I need my little intern Nicole to come help me organize. Hope she will agree to get paid with jewels!!!!

Once it was all cleaned up, I just sat on my couch and enjoyed the view.

I am loving my new place.

New Colors and Weekend Plans

I was feeling like a little change, so we will try blue for a while. When I moved into my new apartment, I was determined to not have everything pink and green like in my cottage. I LOVE pink and green, but I was ready for a change. My friend Zaria worked for an interior decorator and gave me some leftover fabric that was light blue and tan with embroidered seashells on it. That fabric was going to be made into beautiful pillows and I was going to work around it to decorate my new place with a new look.

Well, when my white Ikea couch and chair arrived, it looked so empty and my very expensive and beautiful pink and green pillows were just sitting there, so guess what? They found their way on the couch and haven’t left since.

So I painted my bedroom light blue and went from there. My Mom is coming next week to visit and bringing me my new dresser so I am getting ready for her arrival. This weekend, major changes are going to happen in the apt. I am hoping for rain so I will be trapped in there and really get work done. Just kidding, I do need to keep up the tan I worked all of July for. It is slightly fading.

So, my goals for the weekend are:
1. To finish making the new necklaces I started, I will post a pic soon…
2. To clean out my front closet and get rid of anything unnecessary.
3. To finish my bedroom closet and find more things for ebay.
4. To see Julie and Julia-Saturday night.
5. Be glued to the television for the Mad Men Season Premiere.
and
6. To get at least 30 minutes of sun.

Hope everyone has a fun weekend. TGIF!

To Do List

photo from Flickr-Lazy Organizer

I have spent the last 3 days holed up in my bedroom organizing. There is nothing on the floor, almost all of the clothes are put away and shoes organized. I watched an entire season of Sex and the City while accomplishing this task. I woke up this morning and started tackling my hall closet. How is is possible for a single girl to accumulate so much stuff? So many bins of pictures, half done photo albums, BOXES of stationery-much of which has my old address but it is too nice to just throw away so I use it for people who obviously know I moved, and much more. I am going out of town for a little bit and I know it will be on my mind, these piles of stuff and pictures that deserve to be in photo albums so I was trying to at least get orgazined before I left.

So, I invited someone over for breakfast Monday morning to finally see my apartment. Nothing like a visitor to really put a fire under someone. My friend Cece is coming over and it has helped me motivate to MOVE things and put things where they belong.

I am planning a HUGE trunk show at my apartment when I return. I have so much new stuff on the way and I would love to get rid of some of my old stuff at the same time.

GOAL: by August 10th, my apartment will be in such great shape,

I will post pictures on my blog from all angles.

There..that ought to do it!
Hope everyone had a great weekend.

I am going to see the Sandra Bullock movie by tonight if I have to go by myself.
