Atlanta Gift Show

Last Sunday, I got up at the crack of dawn and left Statesville on my way to Atlanta.  As I drove out of driveway of the Stamey’s home, I passed the cows having breakfast…
Arriving in Atlanta around 11:30 am, I headed straight to building 3 of AmericasMart to check in.  I got my credentials and went downstairs to the Cash & Carry jewelry section to hit up two of my favorite vendors.  I do the same exact thing every time I get to this show…

I ended up getting

Soaps from Michel Design Works.
I am in love with these foaming soaps and they make great hostess gifts!

Visited with my pal Meg Carter in her adorable booth…

Ordered more clutches from Brooke Wright Designs…

Picked out lots of earrings from La Vie en Parisienne….

Picked up a new line of bags…

The pink and green ones were a favorite…

Saw my friends and Crab & Cleek..they also had some new tops on display. I ordered the one below for me to “test out”.

Daniel Richards showroom to see what was new.
These are the new designs from Donovan Designs.
Of course, I was dying over them!

Lifeguard Press..the prettiest showroom of course…

Toss Designs..I almost died when I saw their new chinoiserie bag.  I ordered a bunch!

They teamed up with Paige Gemmel and had her amazing designs on some of their products..I got the bags and can’t wait to get them.

I also got these pom pom bags and the rose glitter bags.

One of my favorite things about is Atlanta is that it is a great place to meet in person my internet friends.  Two years ago, I met Paige from the Pink Clutch and in the past have met many bloggers who came to my booth to say hello.  So fun!

One of my last stops was Alexa Pulitzer. I love their notepads and mousepads.  I ordered a bunch to get me through the beginning of Fall.

Bleary eyed, I left around 5:45 and on the way out, spotted Laurie Byrne from LB Originals.  I have been buying her cute paper goods for such a long time.  It was so fun to finally meet her.
Then…I got turned around-easy to do in these enormous place and couldn’t find the street where the garage was where I parked my car.  I clicked on the maps feature on my phone and they had made a notation for me.  I seriously followed with blue dot until I was going in the right direction and finally found my car.

The rest of this day was not so exciting. I could not decide whether to stay in Atlanta or keep driving towards my parents. I finally opted to get on the road and made it to Macon.  My hotel picking luck failed me and I stayed in a very boring not fancy hotel and got Outback take out for dinner.  The next morning, I decided to hit up Waffle House for breakfast. I woke up at 7am, was sitting at Waffle House at 7:13 and was back on the road by 7:31 heading to Amelia Island.  I got there right around lunch and got to hang out with my niece Taylor and my parents-and Maisie.  All in all, a very fun trip!
Overspent in Atlanta,

Summer Travel Plans

S  U  M  M  E  R   2  0  1  7
My first summer trip is around the corner! I am heading up to Charleston for a trunk show with my friend Grimsley.  I haven’t been to Charleston in ages so I am so excited to visit there.  My first pit stop will be at my parent’s on Amelia Island, it’s a perfect 6 hours from Miami. Leaving on July 11th, my show will be on the 12th.

This invitation might be one of my favorites ever in the history of my business. I LOVE Dixie Designs and think their designs are fresh and adorable.  This invitation would get me out of the house showing up to a trunk show, right?
Next stop-visiting Meg at her parent’s house in North Carolina.  Always a fun time there. I haven’t seen them in a month-which seems like forever.
After that-heading to Atlanta to hit one of the last days of the Atlanta Gift Show.  I should be able to do this on Sunday and hit the road to head to my parents house but not sure about this part of my plan.  My goal is to be back in the office by Tuesday.
The next trip is up North!  I leave at the end of July for my week on Nantucket with my old Newport roommates.  So excited to get up there. I have a couple of days in Boston before and a couple in Providence on the way back.  Tuesday, August 8th I will be in Newport so I can keep my blog honest and check out all my favorite Newport spots.
Amidst all this planning, I still do not have a nailed down kitchen plan!!  The guys I want to do my kitchen are super busy and have postponed my meeting several times.  I am supposed to meet with them tomorrow so hopefully, that will work out.  If I get the plans for the cabinets nailed down this week, it still realistically means there won’t be any action until September with the way things move around here.  So much for “Kitchen Summer” which was what I was calling it. I have bought my faucet and am about to buy my sink, so that is something.
My closet…oh my goodness I had so much stuff in that closet.  Seriously, I found things I haven’t seen in years.  I packed it all up using all my Pierre Deux duffle bags and various totes that were in there I put them in my living room.  I was doing ok putting things away in the new closet when I looked for something yesterday and found two duffle bags that went unnoticed so now I have to find more room in there. Please don’t email and tell me to purge, I have been purging but there are just some things that I can’t get rid of!  I have a 4 day weekend coming up this week and it will all be spent working on my apartment putting things away and clearing things out.
No solid plans for the 4th of July yet…I used to LOVE that holiday. Every year I would buy a new outfit to go watch fireworks.  Now, it is so unbelievably hot in Miami, I usually am trying to find something to wear so I don’t melt. But that is a whole other post.
If you are in Charleston or have friends in Charleston that might want to come to my show, please reach out to me at summerinnewport@gmail.com for the address. It will be fun!
Thanks friends!

AmericasMart

Yesterday was a whirlwind of a day!  Early flight to Atlanta and then walking the gift show all day.  I brought a change of shoes and even that didn’t help much.  I saw a bunch of my regular vendors and lots of new ones..
After stocking up in the Cash and Carry jewelry section…
My next stop was See Designs.  I love their tote bags and ordered these new medium size square totes and a bunch of linen scarves..
The Daniel Richards showroom is always chock full of good paper lines.  I picked up Donovan Designs on this round.  Lots of personalized notepads and some boxed stationery that is so cute.
Got some Crabberrie bags, especially the ginger jar ones

Also finally got the Alexa Pulitzer line.such amazing notepads
And then I walked around looking at all the different booths..it is overwhelming

I went to a book signing of Design Her.  Some of the designers featured were on hand to autograph their section.  My style guru Emily McCarthy was there.  She is amazing.

and then raced across to another building to hear Eddie Ross do a panel on decor.  He was lively and so entertaining..

and then jumped on MARTA and headed to the airport.  When I got home, I was exhausted and my weekend hasn’t even begun!  So excited though for the Beaux Arts festival and my tent there.  Hope to see you!

Crazy day in Atlanta,

This Weekend…

Today, I am traveling to Atlanta for the gift show, but this weekend…

Is one of my favorites..the Beaux Arts Festival of Art at the UM campus.  My little tent is in the UHealth Family Fun Zone across from the Lowe Art Museum.  It will probably look just like last year’s tent…

I have tons of new things and lots of classics..come check it out if you are in town!  Just made these pretty necklaces tonight…

Hope to see you soon!

Last Leg…

I should be hours away from home when this post gets sent out.  Yesterday’s drive was really horrible, so boring and I am super tired.  In a moment of frustration months ago, I downloaded Season 2 of Downton Abbey on my iPhone, so I listened to that the whole time.  Now I have watched/listened to that season about 8 times.  I get a little teary in all the same spots and it never gets old.
The Atlanta Show was not a huge success for me, unfortunately.  Being ever so positive, I will go again in January and mix it up a little bit.  I need a tiny booth with one table, a riser and some really cute blown up pictures to hang.  I will be plotting this out in the next few weeks.  The good news is that I now have an enormous amount of jewelry on hand so I can photograph it all for my website and promotional materials.  One of our neighbors gave me tutorials every day on how to succeed in the jewelry business and we met the coolest lady- Sarah from Naples who is going to be the best contact, so I kept busy all 5 days.  That show is way too long if you ask me.

Off to New Jersey..trying to stay positive,
xoxo kp

Favorite Find, Packing Up and Heading South

After scouring through the aisles of AmericasMart on my breaks, I have found a bunch of fun new things.  My favorite are these adorable acrylic bow cuff bracelets.  They come in a bunch of colors and they are already on my website.  For $29, they are a great deal!

At 2:00 pm, this show ends and I plan on being in my car by 2:45 pm!  We have to break down the whole booth and cart it all out to our cars.  Then I head down South to Amelia Island to spend the night at my parents.  Tomorrow, at the crack of dawn, I head back home to Miami, unload my car, repack a bag and head to the airport to catch a 5:00 pm flight to New Jersey for a Make-A-Wish conference.  The craziness of this plan is now setting in and by Friday afternoon when I return home, I might just fall asleep on my bed.

Adios Atlanta,

xoxo kp

The Trunk Show and on to Atlanta…

My trip to North Carolina was not too exciting..I got to Meg’s house around 4 pm.  The girls were waiting for me and couldn’t wait to show me the ponies.

Then Ashley helped me unpack my car. I had so much stuff in there..still amazed it all fit. I got all set up and then yesterday was our show.  It was so much fun and we literally set up a store in Pam’s kitchen and dining room.  All day long, the ladies trickled in.  It was a huge success.!

 I had super cute greeters…

So, all in all..it was amazing.  Thank you so much Meg and Pam!!!
Back on the road,

Camilla Weighs In…

Thanks for all the suggestions on how to make use of the large column in our Atlanta booth!!  I love hearing from readers.  Before they all came in, I was thinking..who would know what to do in this situation?  The answer was Camilla Bradley.  I emailed her my blog link and asked her to weigh in.  Not knowing what part of the world she was in at the moment, I was surprised to hear from her pretty quickly.  She had great suggestions on how to use it to our advantage and then the next email had this drawing attached…how cute.  She suggested using ribbon hanging down to hide the column and then attach some merchandise.

I met up with Kim at Ikea today and we figured out the rest of our details.  They were giving away towels or something, it was packed with people.  We bought Ivar shelving, lights and some other necessities.  That place is dangerous…

I spent the rest of the afternoon making more jewelry.  I still have a long way to go before I leave on Monday.  I have crystals and clasps coming from different websites and so a bunch of my things are almost done but are waiting on parts.  Here is everything I made so far…

I am supplementing with all the other jewelry I sell for my North Carolina show but Atlanta is all about the jewelry I make, so I am basically making double of everything.  I need some elves!!

Tired with sore fingers…
