Thank goodness the Emmys were on tonight to distract everyone from thinking about hurricanes. Things are still so shockingly off kilter in Miami from Hurricane Irma and now Maria is barreling towards us. Not sure if people can take another big storm. Anyway, I love a good red carpet and there were some pretty dresses tonight. Here are some of the highlights…
Julie Bowen in Alberta Ferretti
Mandy Moore in Carolina Herrera
Kiernan Shipka in Miu Miu
Michelle Pfeiffer in Oscar de la Renta
Susan Sarandon in Zac Pozen
Nicole Kidman in Calvin Klein by Appointment
Vanessa Kirby in Marchesa
Claire Foy in Oscar de la Renta
Zoe Kravitz in Dior Haute Couture
Yvonne Strahovski in Julien Macdonald
Thandie Newton in Jason Wu
Priyanka Chopra in Balmain
Reese Witherspoon in Stella McCartney
and my favorite….
Keri Russell looking beautiful in J. Mendel
So much amazing fashion..loved so many.
Usually, I do a wrap up post of award show red carpets, but this past Sunday’s Emmy Awards were a little lackluster. One of the few dresses I liked happened to be on one of my favorite actresses, coincidence? Maybe…but this Prada sequin gown on Claire Danes was very cool with the chain straps. She looked great and made most of the Best Dressed lists. I would have loved her to win for Best Actress in a Drama this year, but she has won so many times, I can let it go.
Counting down the days for the Homeland premiere.on October 4th…cannot wait!
Ready for some Carrie Mathison,
I love a good award show and the Emmys are one of my favorites. I watched on delay so I could fast forward through commercials but was glued to the red carpet. These are the few that I liked..maybe the least amount of any award show I can remember…
Taylor Schilling in Thakoon
Katrina Bowden n Badgley Mischka
Laura Dern in Naeem Khan
Claire Danes in Armani Prive
Michelle Dockery in Prada
Rose Byrne in Calvin Klein
Kate Mara in J Mendel
Ariel Winter in Lorena Sarbu
Anna Gunn in Romona Keveza
Cobie Smulders in J. Mendel
Gosh are they all pink?
My favorite of this batch is Laura Dern’s dress..very pretty
My thoughts are slightly distracted tonight knowing that people in the UK are watching Episode 1 of Season 4 of Downton Abbey. Praying the link on Facebook works again this year for links to the episodes.
Glued to the tv,
I love the Emmy Awards because they are in September and the only awards show for a while..plus I watch an extraordinary amount of television. The Red Carpet was very red last night but there were other dresses that had people talking…
I will never understand why so many people hate GP. There were tons of not-so-nice comments on her belly baring Pucci dress last night. I say the haters are jealous..there are not many people who could pull this dress off and I, for one, thinks she looks amazing!
Hot tamale in Vera Wang
Beautiful..and the back was to-die-for..and she kept her tattoos all covered up!
This one..all I can say is wow.
Minka Kelly looked very pretty in Dior…
The Good Wife would not be so good without Christine Baranski. She looks fabulous here…
And for the show itself…
Best moment…Kyle Chandler (Coach Taylor) finally winning an Emmy for his amazing portrayal of everyone’s
favorite football coach. It was unexpected but so, so deserved.
Second Best Moment..all the Best Actress, Comedy nominees following Amy Pohler up on stage, lining up like a pageant..and then the winner Melissa McCarthy being crowned with a tiara and bouquet of roses..so cute and so sweet. Loved her since she was Suki on Gilmore Girls.
Lastly..the cute boys from Entourage came on stage and ended up accepting Maggie Smith’s award for her..kind of funny. She probably hasn’t even heard of their show!
All in all, I thought it was a good show. Jane Lynch did a good job and seeing Friday Night Lights earn two Emmys was worth watching the whole thing!
On Award Show nights, I don’t make any plans and sit on my couch working and watching. I usually start on the earlier red carpet listening to interviews and watching the fashion. Most of my friends know not to call during these shows, unless it is a boy or my Mom, I won’t usually answer. jk.. Here are some red carpet pics…
So happy for 30 Rock and Mad Men…also Cherry Jones who played the President last season on 24-one of my favorite shows. I think Drew Barrymore looked stunning!
