Funny Christmas Story

Well, I made it through the holidays!  A few times in December I thought..I can’t wait until January!  This year, I sold stuff through Christmas Eve with my last sale around 2pm in my driveway.  Love the last minute shoppers!

One of my last shows was on Sunday the 17th.  I found an adorable invitation from Dixie Designs and set up shop at my friend Laurie’s.

Surprisingly, it was one of my better shows!  So many friends came to hang out and shop.  Laurie’s niece Catherine, one of my old friends, bought a pair of my new tassel earrings.

She picked the red ones and was excited to wear them that night.  She said when she got home from her party, she put them by her sink in her kitchen.  A few days went by and she went to grab them to wear and couldn’t find them.  She looked all around and in her jewelry box and no earrings.  She called her housekeeper and asked if she had seen them.  She said no and suggested looking in her bathroom.  Catherine was stumped.  Now, while she was telling me this, my mind was racing ahead not sure where this story was going.  Then she said about an hour later, her housekeeper called her back.  She said, look on the tree!  She thought they were ornaments and had put them on the tree.

Sure enough, Catherine went to the tree and both of the earrings were hanging there.  She was cracking up telling me this story and then we were all dying.  They do look like they belong on the tree but they are much cuter as earrings!

Hope you all had a great holiday season and are as excited as I am to hit the ground running in 2018.

The Holidays….

It has been a little busy in my world, lots of shows and still at work-trying to keep up with it all and desperately afraid of missing an order along the way.  My two deadlines are looming this week, so I will be combing my order books to triple check I got everything faxed away.  My favorite show was this past Friday, the Beaux Arts Holiday Market.  It was at my friend Lisa’s house in her back yard on the tennis court, under a tent.  There were around 30 vendors and tons of delicious food.  This is my favorite market because all my friends come and bring their Moms-my original customers.

Nothing is more satisfying than to sell out of a new item. My new experimental necklace was a hit.  Long wood beads with a suede tassel for $25.  They were all gone by the end of the day. Some other new designs sold well, so I know I am on the right track, thankfully.

I spent the rest of the weekend decorating my apartment.  For the first time ever, I got my tree on the early side.  I am usually too busy to get it and put ornaments on it.  When it got up to my apartment, I realized it was a little crooked but figured I would fix it later.

After I put all the lights on it and all the ornaments, tied my pink bows and got it just right, I was so happy to sit and admire my tree.

It looked so great.  I sat on my couch and watched TV while making some jewels.  Out of nowhere, the tree came crashing down right towards me.  It scared the hell out of me!  Unbelievably, no ornaments broke but all my lights got jostled and the water spilled everywhere.  I couldn’t lift it up at first but finally got it upright. I had to put the table right in front of it to keep it stable and tonight, have to figure a way to secure it to something.  What a mess!

On a more personal note, today marks two weeks since my last surgery and I am finally feeling better.  Yesterday was the first pain-med free day I have had in weeks.  I am finally able to see a light at the end of the tunnel.  I have heard it said so many times but it doesn’t ring true until your health is in peril, but you are nothing without your health!!!  I will never take mine for granted again.

Feeling cheery for the holidays,
xoxo kp

Am I fired?

Wow…a week can fly by super fast!!! I have had so many shows and made so many necklaces and only have a few appointments left..and my blog has been neglected. Promise to catch up this week. My biggest news is that I am typing this on my new MacBook Pro. It is so fun but I definitely need a tutor because I can’t figure some things out. Walking out of the Apple store yesterday was so fun having just paid cash for my new computer with all my hard earned profits from this holiday season. I can finally bury my Dell laptop.
The other big item on my wish list-the gold huggie earrings that I have been coveting are on the way to being under my tree. One of my sweetest friends made them my Christmas present and I couldn’t be happier. Of course my list has grown as the days have gone by. I swung into J. Crew and my goodness, there is so much cute stuff in there.
Hope everyone is having a good weekend. I will be catching up soon! xo
